Angio Interventional Technologist

About the role

The Interventional Technologist is responsible for completing Angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques, and taking images. This role works the dayshift from 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Rotating call on nights and weekends is required. Incumbent may be hired as an Angio Tech in Training or level I, depending on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency and independence in all assigned roles within the department, including scrubbing and circulating a wide range of both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers before and after procedures.
• Performs advanced interventional procedures including ablation procedures, stents, thrombectomy, embolization, and atherectomy.
• Participates in orientation and training of new angio staff. Provides teaching, coaching, and mentoring as directed by the unit coordinator and/or assigned preceptor.
• Understands and operates IR equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.
• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, pathology, and patient positioning related to diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Must adhere to on-call expectations, including minimum response times for stroke centers and trauma designated hospitals.

Qualifications

Angio Interventionalist Tech In Training

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
• Applicable State License.
• An American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) technologist who is currently attending and receiving formal training from an accredited training program or successful completion of formal training from an approved/accredited school or a licensed American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) technologist who has been selected to cross-train in another modality.

Angio Interventionalist I

• Minimum 1 year of Angio/Interventional experience or Vascular/Interventional radiography certification.
• ARRT - American Registry Upon Hire (Required).
• BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire (Required).
• ACLS - within 120 Days (Required for non-pediatric hospitals).
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced within 120 Days (Required for only pediatric hospitals).

Preferred Qualifications

• Vascular/Interventional Radiography (VIR) certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions requiring verbal communication as well as hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
• Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment and supplies with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
• Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $39.16 - $60.42. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 scheduled weekly hours.
• Dayshift: 7am-5pm, Monday through Friday.
• Rotating call on nights and weekends is required.
