About the Role

The Renaissance School of Medicine, Stony Brook University, Department of Anesthesiology is recruiting for an Anesthesiologist with a Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia. Stony Brook University is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island's scenic North Shore. Our 1,100-acre campus is home to a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff, including those employed at Stony Brook Medicine, Suffolk County's only academic medical center and tertiary care provider.

Stony Brook Medicine is Suffolk County's largest academic medical center and a major tertiary referral center serving Long Island and the surrounding region. The Department of Anesthesiology provides care across operating rooms, non-operating room anesthesia locations, a high-volume obstetric anesthesia service, and several ambulatory surgery centers. Faculty enjoy exposure to a diverse and complex case mix, including trauma, cardiac, neurosurgical, transplant, orthopedic, vascular, pediatric, and obstetric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia care for a diverse and complex surgical population, with a main focus on performing regional anesthesia procedures, Acute Pain Service, and Orthopedic Anesthesia.
  • Participate in acute pain calls.
  • Teach and mentor medical students and anesthesiology residents.
  • Develop programmatic, educational, and research initiatives within regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine.
  • Provide anesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery or other procedures, including pre- and post-anesthetic consultation.
  • Actively engage in the instruction and/or supervision of medical students, resident physicians, and certified registered nurse anesthetists.
  • Contribute to the Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Service, a high-volume, academically focused program providing 24/7 consultative and clinical coverage.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) degree.
  • Licensed, or eligible for licensure, in New York State.
  • Completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in Anesthesiology.
  • Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
  • Completed or soon to complete a Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia.
