About the role

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University (SSVM) is seeking Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians to join our new veterinary program and teaching hospital. The hospital is located 1.5 miles from our main Glassboro campus. SSVM is a new and innovative veterinary teaching hospital for small animals, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support the clinical services in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital treating patients and educating students.
• Provide comprehensive and quality care to clients and patients.
• Demonstrate a commitment to a collaborative and collegial work culture.
• Problem-solve and adapt to a fast-growing and changing environment with a growth mindset.

Requirements

• Active, current Veterinary Technician License (CVT, LVT, RVT)
• VTS, Anesthesia & Analgesia or VTS eligible
• Minimum 5 years clinical experience

Qualifications

• Experience in anesthesia and surgical assisting and post-operative care
• Familiarity with the use of ventilators
• Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care

Preferred Experience & Skills Requirements

• Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals
• Provide superior nursing care or emergency first aid to recovering or injured animals
• Familiarity with the use of ventilators
• Comfortable utilizing digital radiography machines to acquire images using proper technique and positioning
• Comfortable utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment
