Anesthesia Technician

Responsibilities

• Gather needed anesthesia equipment upon request.
• Demonstrate understanding and practice of aseptic technique during patient care tasks.
• Aid operating room staff with patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with patient transport and operating room turnover as needed.
• Set up anesthesia machines, connect to gas/suction lines, and troubleshoot issues.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain anesthesia machines and equipment per infection control protocols and manufacturer’s instructions.
• Conduct comprehensive functional testing of anesthesia equipment to verify operational safety and compliance with manufacturer’s instructions for use.
• Cookout maintenance or repair requests through Clinical Engineering teams.
• Stock and rotate supplies in anesthesia machines, dispensing cabinets, and satellite locations.
• Order and maintain appropriate inventory levels for anesthesia and OR areas.
• Ensure proper disposal of infectious waste and hazardous materials.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment to support safety and compliance efforts.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One (1) year of hospital experience preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant preferred. Mandatory Reporter training required within 90 days of hire. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification- AHA- American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
