Anesthesia Technician
About the role
The Anesthesia Technician is a vital member of the Anesthesia Care Team, committed to ensuring safe and effective anesthetic experiences. This role encompasses a variety of technical responsibilities, including cleaning and calibrating anesthesia machines, stocking supplies, and monitoring equipment quality. The technician is also responsible for transporting patients and performing routine patient care tasks, while providing critical support during emergency situations. Additionally, the technician assists with machine turnover and procedure preparation and may be required to be on call as needed. This position supports system-wide initiatives and offers opportunities for career advancement upon demonstrated competence and dedication.
Responsibilities
- Checks, calibrates, restocks, prepares, and maintains basic anesthesia equipment and supply carts across all areas supported by the anesthesia team.
- Ensures all equipment is properly sterilized and functioning according to standards.
- Aids with room turnover and prepares anesthesia equipment for subsequent procedures.
- Manages the collection, cleaning, and proper processing of contaminated anesthesia equipment following procedures.
- Disinfects and cleans anesthesia equipment, the surrounding environment, and instrumentation in accordance with the manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU).
- Transports patients, including low-acuity patients, ensuring safe and efficient movement to and from the operating room and other designated areas.
- Performs Point-of-Care testing, including conducting and maintaining quality control procedures, and sterilizes equipment using appropriate methods.
- May be required to be on call and/or float to other departments based on operational needs, within the scope of competency and qualifications.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Demonstrated competency and experience as an Anesthesia Tech I (Basic) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work under moderate supervision.
- Effective organizational and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of anesthesia equipment and sterile technique.
- Demonstrated proactive approach to anticipating and fulfilling anesthesia needs and requests.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Science or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Previous Operating Room (OR) experience.
- One year of experience in an OR, ICU, or an ED setting.

Pay
Pay Ranges: $19.50 - $26.48/hour (Level I) (depending on experience). $20.07 - $28.59/hour (Level II) (depending on experience). $20.88 - $31.09/hour (Level III) (depending on experience)
Schedule and Shifts
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week. 4x10 hour shifts/week. After completing training, 8, 10, and 12 hour shifts are offered based on staffing needs.
Shift Details: Sunday through Saturdays, Mornings, afternoons, and graves. The expectation will be once caregiver is trained, they can work all shifts, weekdays, weeknights, graves, weekends, holidays, call shifts. The training shifts are typically 4 x 10-hour shifts during the weekdays. The caregiver will start out at 0600-1600 for the first 2 months at least. Then the caregiver will move to the 0500-1500 shift for the next 4ish months. The caregiver will then get exposure to the swing shifts, graves, and weekends after they have completed the morning training shifts.
