About the role
The Ancillary Application Analyst will lead IT resources in Cardiology PACs, MFM clinic, Lab, IDM, Pharmacy Expanse modules and secondary resources to Radiology PACs and other systems/projects as assigned. They will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers to translate clinical requirements into applications and technical specifications.
Responsibilities
- Lead IT resource with responsibilities in Cardiology PACs, MFM clinic, Lab, IDM, Pharmacy Expanse modules and secondary resource to Radiology PACs and other systems/projects as assigned.
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other health care providers to translate clinical requirements into applications and technical specifications.
- Ensure that systems exceed regulatory metrics (e.g. Meaningful Use, JCAHO, Quality Measures, etc.).
- Ensure that system outputs (Reports, Faxes, System generated e-mails/tests) are routed appropriately.
- Review/ update current policies, procedures, and documentation practices.
- Reviewing audits of ancillary systems documentation.
- Work with ancillary staff to simplify workflows and streamline clinical processes.
- Create new documentation based on best practices.
- Create Meditech Expanse and interface systems based on current standards of care.
- Develop and maintain Meditech Expanse and interface systems based on current standards of care.
- Open cases with MEDITECH to coordinate the build and revisions/interfaces in Expanse.
- Retrieve and review information to improve patient safety.
- Lead process and change management for planned initiatives, unpredictable environments, and/or unexpected situations.
- Work with department leaders or the Education department to educate staff on updates, changes, and enhancements to Expanse and ancillary systems.
- Acts as the go-between for nursing and the IT department.
- Aid in developing and maintaining downtime policies.
- Support system integration, interfaces, FTP transmissions.
- Provide ongoing support to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
- Build, test, and support EMR software and other clinical/ancillary applications.
- Perform application upgrades, write test scripts, and support upgrades to the production environment, respond to, and resolve incidents.
- Act as a liaison between the clinical departments, IT staff, and software vendors to triage and report issues within clinical/ancillary applications and resolve any technical or functional issues.
- Participate in planning, testing, and supporting go-live of technical infrastructure.
Requirements
- 4 years of experience working with Microsoft Enterprise products.
- Experience with working on desktop/laptop systems and associated peripherals.
- Basic understanding of networking and security principles (e.g. internet access, routing, servers, firewalls).
- Experience with desktop virtualization (e.g. Microsoft virtual PC, Citrix, VMware) is a plus.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be very polished and presentable — this is a highly visible role within the organization.
- Demonstrable experience supporting senior executives, VPs etc.
- Able to multitask and manage working on several different projects.
- Excellent analytical and problem-resolution skills, be able to problem-solve independently or with other teams as appropriate.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent education/professional work experience.
