Anchor/Reporter
About the role
KGW is seeking a hybrid anchor/reporter to anchor weekend morning newscasts and report three days a week for the morning newscast. The ideal candidate will bring authenticity and energy to the newscast while being comfortable with reporting and breaking news.
Responsibilities
- Ancor a morning newscast in a way that conveys credibility and authenticity to our audience.
- Report, write, shoot and edit news stories for broadcast and digital platforms. Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media to enhance stories.
- Present stories in live shots, including breaking news when information is limited.
- Consistently pitch strong story ideas.
- Regularly produce mobile vertical videos.
- Maintain the highest journalistic standards in every story you cover.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field
- Strong understanding of journalism ethics and best practices with a minimum of three years of experience in broadcast journalism or a related field
- Experience with shooting video, video editing for broadcast and digital platforms
- Ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
- Strong social media skills and presence
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop a plus
- Ability to work days, nights and weekends as needed
