Anchor/Reporter

About the Role

WMUR, the ABC affiliate in Manchester, NH, is seeking an Anchor/Reporter to bring energy and credibility to our anchor desk. This role involves live reporting, breaking big stories, and mentoring producers and reporters. You’ll enterprise exclusives, tell compelling stories, and work under tight deadlines while maintaining journalistic integrity.

Responsibilities

• Deliver scripted and ad-lib material with professionalism, personality, and purpose.
• Work with and guide reporters and producers in newscast production.
• Plan, gather, and assemble stories on day-of news or special project assignments.
• Coordinate with news managers and producers to develop stories with unique enterprise angles and exclusive content.
• Develop a network of sources to break significant stories.
• Appear on behalf of the station at public events.
• Contribute pictures, video, and text updates to mobile platforms throughout the day.
• Manage multiple stories and projects simultaneously, meeting all deadlines.

Requirements

• 2+ years of anchor experience required.
• 2+ years of reporting experience required.
• Demo reel indicative of everyday work.
• Ability to connect with viewers and strong reporting skills.
• Proficiency in operating mobile transmission devices and using the latest technology.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions, varied shifts (including overnights and weekends), and ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Ability to handle the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production.
• Related military experience will be considered.
• In-person attendance is required.
