About the role
The Medical Education & Research Institute (MERI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing medicine through the provision of bio-skills lab environments. Based in Memphis, TN, MERI facilitates state-of-the-art, hands-on training and educational events for healthcare professionals across the country and internationally. MERI partners with the Genesis Legacy Whole Body Donation Foundation to support its mission.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process new human donor specimens into the inventory system, documenting relevant anatomical features.
- Operate C-arm (X-ray) machine for processing new donors and assist during educational courses.
- Draw blood samples and order serology testing on all received donors.
- Physically lift and move cadaveric specimens to designated areas to maintain tissue condition.
- Ensure proper transportation and distribution of tissue according to regulatory standards.
- Prepare specimens for courses as directed, including basic exposure, positioning, draping, and disarticulations.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of anatomical specimens and lab equipment for off-site educational courses.
- Support the setup, breakdown, and execution of educational courses as needed.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of specimens to ensure tissue quality.
- Clean, sterilize, restock, and repack surgical instruments and medical equipment for future use.
- Understand and comply with AATB regulatory standards for anatomical department operations.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior experience required, but some clinical experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand documents, write routine reports, communicate effectively, perform calculations, and follow instructions.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, reaching, lifting up to 100 pounds, and performing repetitive tasks.

Schedule
The normal work schedule is 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Some overtime and flexible scheduling may be required.
