Anatomic Pathology Assistant

Responsibilities

• Supports pathologists, pathologist assistants, and histotechnologists in all related duties in surgical pathology
• Handles ordering and packaging of send-out testing
• Gathers information for service and billing
• Distributes slides within the department
• Handles messages from pathologists regarding patient testing
• Answers phones and acts as a liaison for courier services
• Reconciles pending logs
• Pulls slides and blocks as needed/requested
• Manages temperature logs
• Performs limited instrument maintenance
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• High School Degree or GED
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and handle a quantity of work
• Accuracy, quality, and completeness of work
• Judgement skills and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of procedures and quality assurance, including documentation
