Responsibilities
- Supports pathologists, pathologist assistants, and histotechnologists in all related duties in surgical pathology
- Handles ordering and packaging of send-out testing
- Gathers information for service and billing
- Distributes slides within the department
- Handles messages from pathologists regarding patient testing
- Answers phones and acts as a liaison for courier services
- Reconciles pending logs
- Pulls slides and blocks as needed/requested
- Manages temperature logs
- Performs limited instrument maintenance
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and handle a quantity of work
- Accuracy, quality, and completeness of work
- Judgement skills and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of procedures and quality assurance, including documentation
