DriverX Mobile is seeking a motivated professional to join our team in a strategic role focused on IoT, SIM, and Telematics Engineering.

About the role

This position is critical to advancing our connectivity solutions for fleets, logistics, and gig drivers. You’ll work on integrations that power real-time telematics, IoT device management, and scalable SIM-based connectivity for enterprise and consumer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems for IoT/SIM telematics platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate connectivity solutions with fleet management, gig platforms, and enterprise partners.
  • Optimize network performance, device provisioning, and data pipelines for low-latency, high-availability use cases.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to SIM lifecycle, device onboarding, and telematics data transmission.
  • Work with strategic partners to define API specifications, SDKs, and documentation for third-party integrations.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., DOT, FMSCA, GDPR, CCPA) and security protocols (e.g., SOC 2, PCI DSS).
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, proposing improvements to scalability, cost efficiency, and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on IoT, embedded systems, or telecom infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in backend languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go) and frameworks (e.g., Django, Spring, Flask).
  • Hands-on experience with cellular connectivity (SIM/eSIM), MQTT, CoAP, or other IoT protocols.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, APNs) and security best practices.
  • Experience with database systems (SQL/NoSQL) and data streaming (Kafka, Kinesis).
  • Knowledge of telematics hardware (OBD-II, GPS trackers, modems) and fleet management systems is a plus.

Skills

  • Problem-solving: Ability to debug complex systems and optimize performance.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with product, operations, and partner teams.
  • Communication: Clearly document technical requirements and explain solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Stay current with emerging IoT/telematics technologies and industry trends.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity opportunities.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance with employer contributions.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Flexible work arrangements (remote/hybrid options).
  • Professional development stipend and career growth opportunities.
  • Access to cutting-edge IoT/telematics projects with real-world impact.

Location: Albany, NY (hybrid/remote options available).
