About the role
Analytical Instrument Technician at Ingevity provides comprehensive analytical equipment support to both internal and external customers. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring Preventive Maintenance and routine maintenance are conducted.
- Resolving instrument issues and overseeing repairs by vendors.
- Performing quality reviews and supporting the development of QC test methods.
- Improving quality through the development and support of plant and lab instrumentation.
- Preparing and delivering technical reports to Ingevity's support team.
- Flourishing in a fast-paced, high-impact environment where multiple projects are managed simultaneously.
- Supporting safety programs by integrating safety activities into all aspects of the job.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for QC, acting as a point person for maintaining and repairing analytical instruments.
- Conduct quality reviews and assist in developing QC test methods.
- Develop and support plant and lab instrumentation to enhance quality.
- Communicate technical and operational activities effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Solve problems and troubleshoot issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Train others in the use of analytical equipment or new processes/procedures.
Requirements
- A minimum of a BS in chemistry or chemical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in quality or analytical testing in an industrial environment.
- Experience in organic analysis with chromatography (like GC, GPC, HPLC) and spectroscopy (like IR, NMR).
- High levels of initiative, innovation, and analytical ability.
- Experience in maintaining and servicing analytical equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to train others in the use of analytical equipment or new processes/procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Innovative self-starter with a strong analytical background.
- Minimum 5 years related industrial experience.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks required for the position.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.
Skills
- Technical proficiency in organic analysis with chromatography and spectroscopy.
- Experience in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
