About the role
Lazard is seeking an Analyst to join the Shareholder Advisory and Activism Defense Team. This role involves working in small, highly collaborative teams to advise public company boards and C-Suite executives on complex and high-stakes topics related to shareholder bases, activism, and corporate governance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain quantitative models and proprietary analytical frameworks to support client advisory work
- Analyze and synthesize data from shareholder base, shareholder activism and equity markets databases
- Leverage AI-enabled research and analytics platforms to automate workflows and facilitate analysis
- Support advice regarding activism and hostile takeover defense and strategic M&A with shareholder analytics and shareholder engagement advice
- Track and evaluate trends in equity ownership, shareholder activism and corporate governance
- Contribute to thought leadership efforts and participate in internal marketing initiatives
- Publish topical memos for internal and external client use
Requirements
- 1 year of work experience in a relevant field, including investment banking, consulting or accounting
- Excellent academic credentials
- Demonstrated interest and facility with quantitative data analytics, modeling, and AI
- Experience building, maintaining, and deriving conclusions from large data sets using quantitative tools
- Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work across interdisciplinary teams
- Confident and skilled communicator in both written and verbal formats
- Demonstrated track record of success in an intellectually demanding, fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
- Highly motivated self-starter with intellectual curiosity and ability to think creatively on bespoke projects
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field
- Advanced degree preferred
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Python or similar programming languages
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Knowledge of financial modeling and valuation techniques
- Ability to manage and interpret large datasets
- Experience with AI and machine learning tools

Pay
The base salary range for this role is approximately $120,000 - $125,000 USD. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and other factors.
