Position Purpose

Assists with performing analysis to support the identification and prioritization of IT projects that align with corporate business strategy. Participates in analyzing the impact to the existing portfolio when new projects surface and collaborates with senior portfolio analysts, functional and project managers to identify alternative strategies (e.g., resources, project sequencing). Supports analysis and reporting on trends that could negatively impact other projects functionally or financially. With senior portfolio analysts, performs project cost estimating, scheduling, milestone tracking, and reporting. Follows standard methods for project performance monitoring, reporting, analysis, trend assessment, scheduling, and estimating. Provides support to Project Advisory and/or Project Justification committees by identifying items and trends that could affect projects or responding to follow-up items from committee meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Supports use of best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
  • Assists senior portfolio analysts and the financial organization to quantify project benefits, enabling objective evaluation of projects against company objectives and aiding project approval decision-making.
  • Helps ensure all required data for decision-making is complete and available.
  • Supports efforts to monitor and report status on milestone schedule commitments, resource commitments, and constraints.
  • Assists with performing IT project portfolio analysis for the benefit of other TVA organizations, including development of financial and field evaluations and final recommendations to the applicable organization’s manager.
  • Assists senior portfolio analysts in representing ADMIN, Information Services, on agency-wide projects and/or providing support to various committees (often including corporate officers) established to resolve key business issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in project management, engineering, accounting, economics, mathematics, or business administration.
  • Project management-related certifications desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in project management, accounting, financial analysis, or risk analysis; working knowledge of business administration, economics, mathematics, and utility industry concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with all levels of TVA management, vendors, and senior-level professionals.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform most assignments with limited supervision.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position access requirements and essential job functions.
