Analyst, Ops Tax & Cost Basis
About the Role
The Government Reporting team comprises cost basis and tax reporting functionalities. The tax reporting component ensures that all Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client tax reporting forms are issued and mailed accurately and timely. The cost basis component is responsible for the receipt, maintenance, and delivery of tax lots used to calculate cost basis. The Cost Basis and Tax Analyst will conduct routine analysis and tests of various components of a quality control program, including data analysis, systems evaluation, and quality technology. This role requires understanding operational processes, dependencies, and control points, along with a strong recommendation for knowledge of cost basis and tax procedures.
Responsibilities
- Support and, at times, lead initiatives to improve and enhance the advisor experience while positively impacting the broader LPL organization.
- Share trends and pain points with leadership and business partners to find solutions and pursue process improvements.
- Resolve escalated issues and review for training opportunities.
- Support internal/external audit and risk management review of QC processes as needed.
- Analyze reports and data to determine actionable business intelligence with a strong attention to detail.
- Maintain processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Innovate, test, and launch new ideas to solve complex business problems.
- Work closely with internal LPL departments on different projects and initiatives.
- Assist with audit reviews, collection of data, and materials for regulators and/or internal audit.
- Offer creative recommendations on how to solve business challenges.
- Recognize issues, problems, or opportunities and determine whether action is needed.
- Lead projects and UAT testing on behalf of the business.
Requirements
- 3+ years of financial services experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Access.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail with a proactive approach to solving and preventing problems.
Preferences
- Bachelor’s degree.
- FINRA licenses.
- Retirement account tax reporting and cost basis experience.
Pay
$25.75-$42.88/hour. Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
