About the Role

This role supports Pilot Company’s Risk Management, Safety, Business Continuity & Security Department by promoting safety awareness, disaster mitigation, planning, testing, and compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform division, region, and company-wide analysis of corporate and retail location-related accidents; identify trends and develop action plans to reduce incident rates and format safety programs.
  • Participate in monthly division leadership conference calls to present safety overviews and review incident trends.
  • Schedule training classes related to safety, safety awareness, and weather preparedness.
  • Assist in the execution and coordination of the emergency preparedness plan for the Sales and Support Center (SSC) as it relates to the company’s first responders.
  • Assess daily weather status, identify viable threats, and communicate them to operations management; assist in emergency calls’ tracking, follow-up, and reporting.
  • Maintain the company’s emergency response and communication plan; assist in developing a company business continuity program.
  • Develop and maintain a calendar and knowledge base of state/country regulatory requirements; ensure timely posting of current materials.
  • Investigate and formulate responses to governmental citations or inquiries.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly/monthly safety messages for Operations, including safety awareness, incident reports, and industry best practices.
  • Prepare and distribute retail safety performance scorecards.
  • Schedule meetings, develop agendas, and facilitate discussions regarding incidents and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate individual state safety programs to ensure they are current and relevant.
  • Evaluate safety equipment performance and provide purchase recommendations to management; ensure new equipment is posted in VW.
  • Evaluate and recommend services/software to streamline safety and business continuity.
  • Review internal safety audits; communicate concerns and recommend compliance solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (emergency management, safety, risk, or business continuity field of study) or a minimum of four years’ experience in a customer-facing position.
  • BCP Certification (required).
  • OSHA 30 Certification (required).
  • CSP Certification (or similar safety certification required).
  • Knowledge and experience with governmental/regulatory agency inquiries and investigations (OSHA, DoH, DoE, etc.).
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Maintain membership/certification in a professional emergency management organization offering continuing education.
  • Working knowledge of WC/GL claims processes and insurance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of customers, management levels, and agencies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong investigative, data mining, and report-writing skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative; work independently as well as on a team.
  • Travel required less than 15%.
  • General office work requiring sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Infrequent work during off-hours (weekends, nights, holidays) to properly track emergencies.
