About the Role
This is a 12-month Limited-Term position that may be extended up to 24 months and/or with the possibility of becoming permanent. The State Operations Center Purchasing Unit provides support to the Incident Support team, which is utilized to respond to emergencies and disasters within California. Under direction of the Supervisor I, this position is responsible for general analytical projects including oversight and management of contracts and procurement within the Purchasing Support Unit. The incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.
Working Conditions
- In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.
- DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position requires a valid Driver's License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
- Conflict of Interest (COI): This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
- In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work outside of normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.

- Attention to Detail – Ability to ensure accuracy in travel bookings, reimbursements, and policy compliance
- Knowledge of procurement and invoicing processes related to travel
