Analyst - Core Trade Finance Financial Institutions - Global Transaction Banking, TD Securities

TD Securities ("TDS") provides a wide range of capital market products and services to corporate, government, and institutional clients through Global Transaction Banking ("GTB"), Corporate and Investment Banking ("CIB"), and Global Markets ("GM"). The firm works with clients around the world, focusing on key global financial centers: Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, New York, London, Singapore, and Tokyo.
GTB is a key growth business within TDS that offers innovative solutions and treasury advisory services on large and complex liquidity, payments, and trade and working capital finance needs. The business constantly evolves with macroeconomic conditions, innovation, interest rate environments, and Foreign Exchange ("FX") movements. GTB comprises three business lines: Trade & Working Capital ("TWC"), Corporate Cash Management ("CCM"), and Financial Institutions ("FI"), supported by dedicated functions including GTB Risk & Control, Product Management, Client Solutions, Data & Analytics, and Deposit Portfolio Management.
This role is a junior to early-career entry point focused on client coverage in finance. The Analyst will primarily support the Trade Finance Financial Institutions ("TFFI") portfolio, managing the issuance of Letters of Credit ("LCs") involving global correspondent banking partners. The role acts as a key coordination point between external counterparties and internal TD stakeholders, including FI and Corporate Relationship Management, Credit, Risk, and Trade Finance Operations. The ambition to develop leadership skills and grow into an independent problem solver is essential.
Responsibilities
- LC Reissuance & Correspondent Banking Execution (Primary Focus):
- Act as a primary coordination point with global correspondent banking partners on inbound and outbound transactions, ensuring timely execution and clear communication.
- Manage day-to-day execution of LC requests, including intake, internal routing, follow-ups, and status updates.
- Support transaction execution by coordinating inputs across internal stakeholders, including Operations and Credit & Risk.
- Perform pricing assessments for transactions, including return analysis and benchmarking.
- Maintain a comprehensive transaction tracker covering LC reissuance activity, counterparties, pricing, credit status, and key milestones.
- Prepare and present a quarterly revenue and activity reporting deck for management review.
- Participate in meetings and social events with global correspondent banking partners to strengthen relationships and expand business opportunities.
- Deliver briefing memos and call reports to document opportunities and client connections.
- Trade Finance Origination:
- Support the origination team in meeting client needs and executing trade finance strategy.
- Understand the overall TDS client origination strategy, particularly that of CIB.
- Enhance client experience and increase revenue by adding new clients and expanding the use of trade finance products.
- Become familiar with TDS clients across industries such as Communications, Media, and Technology; Diversified; Financial Institutions; Financial Sponsors; Global Energy and Power; Mining; Paper, Packaging and Forestry; Real Estate; and Utilities.
- Review financial statements and leverage credit tools to understand clients' requirements.
- Relationship Development:
- Prepare presentations, discussion papers, and term sheets.
- Arrange and engage in client calls, including preparation of call reports.
- Assist in term sheet negotiation.
- Collaborate with product partners including CIB, DCM, Derivatives, and FX to ensure appropriate client presentation contributions.
- Support deal communication with Corporate Banking relationship managers.
- Facilitate all aspects of facility approval from a product perspective, including Know Your Customer due diligence.
- Assist Relationship Managers with review and negotiation of facility documentation with clients.
- Assist with instrument issuance.

- General awareness of global financial markets, geopolitical developments, and their potential impact on cross-border transactions.
- Familiarity with corporate financial statements (understanding of credit analysis is an asset).
- Strong appreciation for process discipline, risk management, and control procedures.
- Flexibility to occasionally work non-traditional hours to support transaction execution across time zones.
- Ability to travel in North America.
Qualifications
- Deep intellectual curiosity and passion for corporate finance and technology.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence (EQ).
- Understanding of commercial or corporate lending (valuable but not required).
- Familiarity with credit facility documentation (valuable but not required).
- Client-facing experience (valuable but not required).
Pay
$110,000 - $125,000 USD base salary. TD is committed to providing fair and equitable compensation opportunities. The base pay offered may vary based on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, geographic location, and other business needs.
