Analyst-Compliance- GFCC Strategy and Product Oversight
About the role
The Strategy and Product Oversight Team (SPOT) is part of Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) and oversees GFCC’s reviews of all new product initiatives across all American Express business units, markets, and product types. SPOT’s goal is to ensure that all American Express products are launched, changed, and decommissioned consistent with American Express Financial Crimes policies and standards, and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial crimes risk management principles. SPOT reports into the broader Global AML team that supports AML compliance and risk management across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Aid in managing day-to-day tasks to support GFCC new product, product change, and discontinuation reviews.
- Assist in reviewing new product proposals and compliance requirements to identify potential financial crimes risks.
- Oversee pre- and post-launch governance activities associated with product approval.
- Memorialize GFCC’s assessment of risks and impacts identified with product approvals and how they will be mitigated.
- Track issues, mitigations, or requirements identified and follow up with stakeholders for timely resolution.
- Manage weekly Product Approval reporting and maintain the GFCC-SPOT dashboard, including updating and tracking status of approval matters (including New Product approvals, Discontinuations, Stipulation and Action Item due dates, and approvals).
- Organize, track, store, and maintain the team’s documentation for all product reviews.
- Learn and understand various technology platforms used at American Express, especially those within GFCC, to help drive various tech-based efforts.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with GFCC SMEs, CMs, LOBCOs, business stakeholders, and Operational Risk Governance Group.
- Aid in developing and enhancing guidance materials, training, and templates.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required and an advanced degree in a related field is a plus.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance.
- Knowledge of all aspects of the credit card industry and banking industries.
- Knowledge of product governance, risk and control management, and/or compliance risk assessment.
