Ammonia Refrigeration Tech (3rd Shift)
About the role
Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and services with outside contractors that will troubleshoot and repair ammonia refrigeration system.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on HVAC, water heating system, and boiler/condenser water chemical system.
Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and/or annual facility and building inspections along with assigned work orders.
Assist with refrigeration system inspections.
Maintain refrigeration logs and records documenting time, material and parts.
Responsible for housekeeping of all assigned areas; including ammonia refrigeration engine room, maintenance shop area, and chemicals/parts storage area.
Timely work order execution based on assigned priority.
Operate forklifts and aerial platforms as needed; complete daily Powered Industrial Truck Inspection, ensuring safe operation and reporting any concerns to maintenance manager or shift supervisor.
Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Saputo's food safety, quality programs and regulatory requirements.
Adhere to industry practices, SOPs, LOTO procedures and other safety guidelines.
Promptly report all potential quality, food safety, and workplace safety hazards to management team.
Attend and participate in all required training, shift meetings and committees.
Work weekends and/or holidays based on business needs and task completion timelines.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills.
- Utilize manufacturer equipment manuals, troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns, and read mechanical drawings.
- Utilize various computer applications that apply to the department and business to an acceptable degree, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Products, and CMMS program, manufacturing and maintenance software.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams.
- Successfully complete the Basic Ammonia Operator training within 6 months of job assignment.
- Basic Electrical knowledge to include NFPA 70e requirements.
- Meet physical demands required for the position (stand, walk, bend, stoop and climb; able to lift up to 75 pounds. Able to work in cold environments and around moving equipment; good visual acuity with ability to distinguish colors).
- Operate material handling equipment; perform pump rebuilds, sensor calibrations, PM’s
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 Years associate degree in mechanical or HVAC and /or 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred.
- Familiarity with Ammonia Refrigeration Systems preferred.
- Familiarity with process instrumentation and process drawings, PLC’s preferred.
- Able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.
- CARO or CIRO Certification preferred but not necessary
- HMI/PLC troubleshooting skills
Qualifications
