About the role
The Boys & Girls Club of Utah County is hiring 11 AmeriCorps STEM Specialists for the upcoming school year 2026-2027. The positions are located throughout Utah County, including Orem, Provo, and Pleasant Grove.
Responsibilities
- Lead STEM lessons during the time allocated each week
- Maintain records of lesson plans and track data for the number of students served
- Complete weekly timesheets and a monthly report
- Evaluate progress of youth served using surveys & rubrics
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes
- Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and your teammates
- Promote and stimulate program participation
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members
- Ensure members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s)
- Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for all members and visitors
- Monitor and evaluate program services and activities
- Oversee member safety, program quality, and appearance of the organization at all times
- Supervise and ensure safety during indoor and outdoor activities (rain or shine)
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly organization staff meetings
- May participate in special programs and/or events
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and all grant required training
Requirements
- 18+ years of age
- United States citizen or legal permanent resident
- High school diploma or GED
- Meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service
- Experience in working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Motivated youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to work with the school and general public
- Plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- CPR and First Aid Certifications may be required
- Valid State Driver's License
- Preference will be given to individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, and/or education
