AmeriCorps STEM Specialist - St. George

About the role

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County is hiring 5 AmeriCorps STEM Specialists for the upcoming school year 2026-2027. The positions will be located at Heritage Elementary, Legacy Elementary, Panorama Elementary, Paradise Canyon Elementary, and Washington Elementary. The schedule is approximately Monday through Friday from 2-6 PM from mid August 2026 to end of May 2027.

Schedule

The AmeriCorps STEM Specialist will spend about 12-16 hours each week assisting with hands-on, informal STEM education of the Boys & Girls Club. The schedule is approximately Monday through Friday from 2-6 PM from mid August 2026 to end of May 2027.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide STEM education: Lead STEM lessons during the time allocated each week, maintain records of lesson plans and track data for the number of students served, complete weekly timesheets and a monthly report, and evaluate progress of youth served using surveys & rubrics. - Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes: Build positive relationships with youth, families, school staff, and your teammates; promote and stimulate program participation; provide guidance and role modeling to members; ensure members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s); demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety, and development of members. - Program Development and Implementation: Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for all members and visitors; monitor and evaluate program services and activities; oversee member safety, program quality, and appearance of the organization at all times.

Additional Responsibilities

- May participate in special programs and/or events. - Participate in weekly staff meetings and all grant required training.

Skills/Knowledge Required

- 18+ years of age. - United States citizen or legal permanent resident. - High school diploma or GED. - Meet the requirements set by the Corporation for National and Community Service. - Experience in working with children. - Knowledge of youth development. - Motivated youth and manage behavior problems. - Ability to work with the school and general public. - Plan and implement quality programs for youth. - Organize and supervise members in a safe environment. - CPR and First Aid Certifications may be required. - Valid State Driver's License - Preference will be given to individuals with educational or work experience related to science, technology, engineering, math, teaching, and/or education.
