About the role

Perform tasks to maintain safety standards, increase equipment reliability, and carry out electrical construction activities at the journeyman level. Ensure efficient operation of machinery and equipment to meet production needs safely and properly.

Responsibilities

  • Journeyman electrical experience, including knowledge of construction codes and proficiency in running conduit, building and wiring panels, and reading electrical drawings.
  • Complete preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, machinery, electric controls, panel construction, and wiring.
  • Safely modify and install energy control devices.
  • Monitor equipment and operations to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Comply with LOTO, Confined Space, Respirator, and other applicable training and procedures.
  • Follow diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for issues, and consulting with operators or supervisors.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and controls.
  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Safety Management Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 years of commercial and/or industrial electrical construction experience.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Legible handwriting and basic computer skills; experience with MS Excel a plus.
  • Ability to utilize email and computer-based maintenance software.
  • Read and understand instructions, drawings, and electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Self-directed and able to adhere to all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Must provide tools as required to complete job duties.
  • Willingness to work overtime and adapt to schedule changes on short notice.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Maintenance, PLC, electrical, welding, or fabrication experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials and environmental changes (heat/cold).
  • Ability to work under stress due to production requirements, personnel, and departmental needs.
  • Physical activities include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently to lift, push, pull, or move objects.
  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may require walking and standing for brief periods.
