Amerex - 1st Shift Tooling Machinist

Job Description

Perform tasks to maintain and implement safety standards, assist in the repair of equipment, and use tooling equipment to machine parts to precision dimensions.

• Complete preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery
• Aid in the repair of equipment, using machinery, grinders, saws, hand tools and other shop equipment
• Maintain equipment and operations to meet safety standards
• Comply with LOTO and other Amerex conduct, safety, and environmental procedures and programs. Report any deviations from these programs to management
• Follow diagrams and drawings to produce parts to precision dimensions
• Adjust functional parts of devices and controls
• Operate machinery such as manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and heat-treating ovens safely and efficiently
• Manage maintenance supplies by anticipating needed equipment and communicating needed supplies and irregularities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Performs work under minimal supervision
• Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter
• Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 to 6 years of experience
• Formal technical training or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Legible handwriting, basic computer skills required
• Knowledge of materials properties, machinability, and proper applications
• Mathematical Skills
• To utilize email and computer-based maintenance software
• Read & understand instructions, drawings and electrical, pneumatics & hydraulic schematics
• Complete paperwork accurately and timely
• Self-directed
• Must provide tools as required to complete job duties
• Willingness to work overtime and schedule changes on short notice

Location & Commitments

• Permanent full-time roll based in Trussville, AL
• Overtime may be required to ensure client projects are completed and delivered on time
• Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary
