Machinist (1st shift)

Responsibilities

• Ensure all necessary materials are on hand and equipment is in order; may move stock and material as required.
• Operate a variety of machinery including single and multi-spindle screw machines, lathes, machine centers, tube benders, press brakes, laser, tube cutters, mechanical presses, turret presses, shears, and saws; may also operate drill presses, sanders, tumblers, etc.
• Mount, position, and adjust cutting tools, adapters, collets, pushers, cams, threading devices, and other tooling to meet drawing specifications and set-up guidelines.
• Set proper feeds and speeds to consistently produce quality parts.
• Troubleshoot programs and adjust machine settings to produce parts as needed.
• Follow job procedures, instructions, drawings, specifications, and sequence of operations; perform and document quality checks using SPC.
• Assist supervisor with scheduling, preparing and moving material, rework, and other tasks to meet schedules.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks to maintain proper lubrication and coolant levels.
• Provide timely and accurate labor reporting.
• Ensure both quality and quantity of work meet standards.
• Participate in team activities, problem-solving sessions, and communicate problems or solutions to appropriate team members.
• Follow all written processes and procedures; document and/or chart production data to aid in problem identification, quality feedback, and production scheduling.
• Assist other team members to ensure quality products and smooth workflow; troubleshoot problems as needed; train, instruct, and assist other operators as required.
• Evaluate defective material and tooling, faulty operations, questionable conditions, and potential work stoppages; recommend alternatives to appropriate personnel (may require use of computer and telecommunication devices).
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area and equipment; follow prescribed safety regulations.

Requirements

• Must pass Machine Set-Up Test.
• May be required to have a tow motor license.
• High School Diploma or GED (applies to anyone hired after 1997).

Pay

This position has a salary pay rate of $24.12 per hour, plus shift differential for off shifts. The pay rate is based on several factors including relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
