Position Summary

Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, ensures optimum patient outcomes related to medication use by preventing or resolving drug-related issues and optimizing the drug therapy of patients. Provides drug information to patients and families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Integrally involved in education of pharmacists, residents, and students. Serves as a resource and drug expert in one of the seven specialty areas. Strives to increase knowledge through research and writing activities.

Education

  • Requires at a minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and at least five years of pertinent work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and post-graduate training, with at least three years of pertinent work experience, or a Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy with post-graduate training or at least two years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Deep knowledge of medications, their effects, drug interactions, medical procedures and therapies, diagnosis and disease states required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with hospital staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, colleagues, and others.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines.
  • An organized work style and ability to keep well written documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Language Skills

Additional language skills can be a plus.

Experience

  • Must possess self-management skills and require little to no supervision.
  • This person must be a self-starter, self-motivated, have a strong work ethic and must have the ability to identify issues or opportunities that require attention and change.
  • Must possess and exhibit process improvement skills and acumen.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and web browsers.

Compensation Range

$43.03- $62.50
