About the role
Ride horses, round up cattle, brand calves, and help build sustainable eco-tourism with ranches in Guyana’s Savanna to preserve their centuries-old lifestyle. With declining income from meat sales, Amerindian Vaqueros are at risk of abandoning their traditional way of life. As a volunteer, you’ll assist in developing basic eco-tourism facilities while experiencing the life of a cowboy or cowgirl in a remote and beautiful setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with cattle ranching tasks, including horseback riding, rounding up cattle, and branding calves
- Help develop and build sustainable eco-tourism facilities to support the local economy
- Learn and participate in a rustic, traditional lifestyle alongside Amerindian Vaqueros
- Contribute to the preservation of indigenous culture and way of life
Qualifications
- Passion for ranch life, horse riding, and outdoor adventure
- Interest in native Amerindian cultures and sustainable tourism
- Willingness to live and work in a remote, rustic environment
