About the Role
We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Grand Del Mar as our new Amaya Host.
Responsibilities
- Display a congenial appearance and remain well-groomed at all times.
- Communicate all reservations and guest comments to management and servers.
- Welcome guests to the restaurant.
- Coordinate the seating of guests and manage reservations.
- Answer all phone calls received at the hostess stand.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hostess stand and entryway.
- Oversee maintenance of all Reservation and Hostess equipment, software, and supplies.
- Communicate guest profile and expectations to servers and management.
- Perform general clerical tasks including utilization of OpenTable.
Requirements
- Food Handlers Card required.
- High School graduate.
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic math skills and ability to use a calculator.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, its services, and facilities.
- Superior guest service abilities and a complete understanding of California serving guidelines.
Physical Demands
- Most work tasks are performed indoors with moderate temperature controlled by restaurant environmental systems.
- Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours.
- Must be able to multi-task in a calm manner on a timely basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill daily tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
Grooming
All colleagues must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Fairmont Grand Del Mar standards. A conservative, simple, and elegant style is preferred.
Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $20.60.
