Responsibilities

• Welds metal parts with gas welding equipment as specified by blueprints
• Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks
• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
• Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts
• Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces
• Scarfs or grooves weld prior to applying filler metal
• Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter
• Cleans or degreases parts
• MIG welds
• Reads AWS blueprints

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time (10-12 hours)
• Ability to wear required PPE including a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) weighing approximately 2.5 pounds for extended periods of time (10-12 hours)
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

Pay

Starting on the 91st day of employment, pay is based on experience plus an Alum Welding Premium.

Schedule

Works a schedule of four days on, then four days off.
