Jackson’s Asset Liability Management (ALM) department protects the company’s capital and ensures it can meet the payouts guaranteed to customers. The ALM Lead performs complex analyses to monitor and manage Jackson’s asset/liability exposure, enhances financial models, and improves process efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform critical analyses that inform asset/liability management decisions, including hedging and asset allocation.
- Independently build and enhance complex financial models for variable annuity guarantees, fixed index annuity guarantees, derivatives, and fixed income assets.
- Implement techniques to improve model design, output accuracy, and process efficiency within the ALM department.
- Prepare weekly and monthly analyses for ALM decision-making and reporting to the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO).
- Develop technical papers and presentations to support senior management decisions.
- Lead or support cross-functional projects involving Actuarial, Investment Management, Information Technology, and Finance teams.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of annuity product designs, optional benefit features, capital market instruments (e.g., options, swaps, futures), and hedging concepts.
- Review work product of less experienced analysts and provide training as needed.
- Support other departments’ information requests and perform additional duties or projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, actuarial science, economics, mathematics, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree, PhD, or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, ASA/FSA) (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role performing complex statistical, economic, or financial analysis (required).
- 5+ years of significant ALFA (or similar actuarial software) modeling experience (preferred).
- Experience with economic reserve and capital frameworks (preferred).
- Database experience (preferred).
Skills
- Excellent understanding of financial mathematics and modeling.
- Strong knowledge of actuarial principles and methodologies for insurance liability valuations.
- Strong knowledge of financial instruments and derivatives.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and adapt to changing needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to build effective relationships within and outside the organization.
- Proficiency in computer programming languages, MS Excel, and MS Word.
