Alarm Service Technician

This hands-on role plays an integral part in building and maintaining customer relationships through the installation, servicing, and inspection of low-voltage electronic security equipment.

Responsibilities

• Experience with alarm panels such as: 2GIG, Qolsys, Ademco, GE, DSC, DMP, and others.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and replace system components as assigned (e.g., panels, peripheral devices, audible/visual alarms).
• Drive to customer homes to perform service work.
• Perform physical tasks including occasional lifting, carrying (up to 30 pounds), pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Diagnose causes of system problems or failures to identify necessary repairs.
• Provide customer education and training, including system demonstrations.
• Conduct thorough walkthroughs and site evaluations with customers to ensure the system meets their needs and expectations.
• Install and test equipment to ensure proper functionality and signal verification.
• Identify opportunities to improve system use and functionality and provide recommendations to customers.
• Maintain safety practices to prevent injury and property damage.
• Keep workspaces and job sites clean and organized to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Good driving record and valid driver’s license.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Working knowledge of how an alarm system operates.
• Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights.
• Comfortable working in tight spaces such as crawlspaces, attics, and basements.
• Low-voltage license or alarm installation certification (e.g., NICET I).
