About the role
Akars Dining Services is seeking a Sous Chef to assist the Executive Chef in the supervision and training of the Dining Services production staff. The position involves ordering, planning, preparing, and serving food to ensure high-quality meals in University facilities. The Sous Chef is also responsible for inspecting equipment for proper use and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and train the Dining Services production staff
- Order, plan, prepare, and serve food to maintain quality standards
- Inspect equipment for proper use and maintenance
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to the entire cooking staff
Requirements
- Knowledge in Culinary Arts from college or vocational school
- One to three years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in food production and supervision
- Supervisory responsibilities equivalent to Sous Chef level in a full-service food and beverage operation
- Experience in food handling, food service production, and banquet coordination
- Familiarity with food preparation equipment

Schedule
Monday through Wednesday 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., Thursday off, Friday 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., alternating weekends off.
