About the role

As a Machine Repair Technician Level 3, you will lead advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of complex baggage handling systems and associated electrical/mechanical components. You will also maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs). In this senior technical role, you will manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance efforts, provide team leadership, and ensure operational excellence through detailed documentation and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair baggage handling systems (BHS) and related electrical/mechanical systems, including industrial controls, wiring, and components.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Passenger Boarding Bridges (PBBs).
  • Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance; lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance efforts.
  • Lead and delegate tasks while communicating professionally with customers and team members.
  • Replace system components (e.g., encoders, photo eyes, controllers) and interpret manuals/work orders for accurate service execution.
  • Accurately document maintenance activity in CMMS and analyze system data to identify and resolve issues.
  • Communicate critical updates to supervisors and operate equipment such as forklifts, golf carts, and company vehicles.
  • Support daily operations by clearing baggage jams and ensuring minimal system downtime.
  • Comply with company safety program and trainings.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearance.
  • 5+ years’ experience in maintenance operations.
  • Available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift, including weekends and holidays.
  • Advanced skills in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repair.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of PLC Control systems.
  • Experience with 480V and 3-phase motors.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience working at an airport with a good understanding of airport operations (preferred).
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics (preferred).
  • Experience with passenger boarding bridges and conveyance systems (preferred).
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, project management tools, and CMMS software (preferred).

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and work in small spaces; ladder work required.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport ramp around aircraft and in confined areas of baggage conveyor systems.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.

Work Environment

  • Work environment similar to airport operations with vehicular traffic.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Work on an airport ramp around aircraft and heavy equipment.
