Airport Power Plant Manager

About the role

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all air handlers, pumps, chillers, rooftop units, exhaust systems, glycol recovery systems, and the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems associated with the Airport.

Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, and supervises, through supervisory personnel, the operations, maintenance, and engineering workers in the operation and maintenance of two power plants and outer buildings.
• Ensures facilities are operated in accordance with all applicable operational and regulatory requirements and best utility practices.
• Performs inspections of buildings, machinery, and equipment and provides recommendations for future capital improvement projects.
• Maintains the environmental conditions within the airport facilities.
• Analyzes the fluctuations in usage of utilities.
• Reviews staffing, material and equipment needs for the Climate Control Department.
• Plans, organizes, and guides the work units’ operations, prioritizes projects, and coordinates with other Airport departments.
• Manages, adds, and removes assets from computerized work orders in CityWorks.

Requirements

• Five years of experience in the operation and maintenance of high capacity, commercial HVAC systems with high pressure boilers including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

• Mathematical Aptitude: Performing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, percentages, basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Functional Reasoning: Applying principles of influence systems such as supervision, managing, leading, teaching, directing, planning, and controlling.
• Situational Reasoning: Applying judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving the direction, control, and planning of an entire program or multiple programs.
• Environmental Factors: Exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, odors, wetness, humidity, fumes, temperature extremes, machinery, electric currents, or traffic hazards.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials of moderate weight, twelve to twenty pounds, and exert moderate but not constant physical effort.
• Sensory Requirements: Ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, and sounds associated with job-related objects, materials, and tasks.
