About the role
The Power Plant Manager will oversee the Sterling Power Plant, managing its operations, maintenance, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Directs and oversees planned maintenance and engineering support for SPP and distribution systems.
- Formulate and execute short- and long-range operational plans for SPP.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
- Provides direction and leadership for plant operators to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of utilities for University facilities and other properties.
- Provides high-level technical expertise in the operation of a cogeneration plant and related technology.
- Manage exempt and non-exempt staff to include scheduling, employee relations, and discipline.
- Manages the administrative support needs for exempt and non-exempt staff and provides recommendations, improvements, solutions and assistance as needed.
- Ensures compliance with University and federal regulations as they apply to the assigned departments.
- Identifies, plans, and develops administrative policies for the assigned departments.
- Assists in reviewing and implementing University and departmental policies as they pertain to the administrative functions of the assigned department.
- Assesses and makes recommendations regarding staff development and staffing levels.
- Maintains appropriate records as required.
- Schedules and oversees work of outside contractors and ensures that the work is completed according to contracts and specifications.
- Develops and implements engineering procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provides hands-on engineering support for all associated maintenance.
- Manages a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in related field and eight years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
