Airport Operations Manager

About the role

KBFS is seeking an Airport Operations Manager to support operations at the Geneva Municipal Airport. The position requires military experience and does not offer remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements an airport services plan reflecting the city's long-range operations and growth strategy.
  • Trains, develops, and coaches Line Service Technicians according to established procedures, ensuring compliance with city policies, FAA regulations, and Corporate Quality Control Plan.
  • Maintains training records and ensures compliance with regulatory and company training requirements.
  • Schedules key activity services from 0600-2400 hours daily Monday through Friday and weekend hours as needed.
  • Coordinates Line Service Shift Leads to ensure all fuel quality checks are performed correctly and staff is properly trained.
  • Communicates with the team about changes or additions to FBO or company guidelines.
  • Supervises provision of line services including marshaling, towing, fueling, aircraft services, FOD control, and assists customers with luggage, ground transportation, accommodations, and special requests.
  • Aids customers (passengers and pilots) with their needs, including handling rental cars, hotel reservations, ground transportation in the FBO van, and placing catering orders.
  • Maintains awareness of weather forecasts and severe weather warnings, making timely, appropriate decisions when adverse weather approaches.
  • Assists with after-hours support by providing scheduled onsite and on-call coverage.
  • Performs other tasks as required by the city or corporate management.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Business Administration or Aviation Management required with five (5) years of relevant airport operations experience.
  • In lieu of degree, a High School Diploma or GED with 11 years of relevant airport operations experience is acceptable.
  • Two (2) years' experience in a job requiring customer relations skills.
  • Two (2) years' experience using the Microsoft suite of office tools with a minimum proficiency level of at least 3 out of possible 5.
  • Two (2) years' experience with FAA-certified operations (e.g., Part 121 Airlines Operations, Part 141 flight training, or Part 145 Repair Station) or the FAA itself.
  • Two (2) years' experience as a manager of teams with at least 3 employees.
  • Experience managing an operation with responsibilities for facility upkeep and improvement.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to undergo background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol prevention test.
