Airport Maintenance Worker

About the role

The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority is seeking a full-time Airport Maintenance Worker in our Airfield Maintenance division. The position offers a starting wage of $25.91 per hour, with potential for overtime and night shift differentials. The role involves working flexible shifts to support 24/7 airport operations, performing a range of tasks including maintenance of facilities, snow removal, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair tasks on airport facilities and equipment
• Inspect and repair blacktop roadways, runways, taxiways, and aircraft ramp areas
• Keep airport facilities hazard-free and grounds attractive
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as plows, front-end loaders, and sweepers
• Communicate with FAA tower via radio
• Assist with aircraft emergencies, facility equipment failures, and other emergency situations

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience working at a commercial airport
• One (1) year of maintenance work, or its part-time equivalent, in one (1) or more of the building or mechanical trades
• One (1) year of maintenance work, or its part-time equivalent, in property maintenance, landscaping, and/or snow-plowing
• One (1) year of driving a CDL vehicle, or its part-time equivalent
• Valid Class A or Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
• Pass a pre-employment background check and security clearance
• Pass a pre-employment drug test

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of airport maintenance practices, tools, and materials
• Skilled in one or more construction, landscape, or facility maintenance trades
• Ability to operate and maintain motor and heavy equipment
• Basic understanding of computers
• Professional and respectful demeanor with diverse employees, tenants, vendors, and the public
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the position

Pay
