Airfield Maintenance Specialist III (May Underfill)
About the role
This position involves performing a wide range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the airfield. Tasks include handling everything from preventative maintenance inspections, cleaning, and lubrication of construction and snow removal equipment, to responding swiftly and effectively to airport emergencies. The role also involves operating, maintaining, and preparing trucks and heavy equipment, ensuring they are always ready for action.
Responsibilities
- Operates and trains co-workers on the safe and proper use of all construction, snow removal and other miscellaneous equipment used to perform all required maintenance needs.
- Captures and prepares equipment for use, performs preventative maintenance such as inspections, cleaning, and lubrication on construction and snow removal equipment.
- Coordinates work and completion of assigned projects with specialized airport divisions.
- Maintains and prepares equipment for use, performs preventative maintenance such as inspections, cleaning, and lubrication on construction and snow removal equipment.
- Responds to airport emergencies and provides support services for first responders and emergency response teams in conjunction with Airfield Operations.
Requirements
As an Airfield Maintenance Specialist, you'll be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our airfield. You will handle everything from preventative maintenance inspections, cleaning, and lubrication of construction and snow removal equipment, to responding swiftly and effectively to airport emergencies. Your role will also involve operating, maintaining, and preparing trucks and heavy equipment, ensuring they are always ready for action.
Qualifications
- One year experience in the operation of heavy/light equipment and a thorough understanding of the laws governing the operation of motor vehicles.
- Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License, and current DOT medical card.
- Thorough knowledge of safety rules, and hazards and application of accident prevention measures associated with the operation of heavy/light equipment.
- Ability to work shifts which may include days, afternoons, graveyards, weekends, and holidays. These may include extended shifts, overtime, stand-by’s and callouts.
Skills
The ideal candidate will have a high level of situational awareness, strong problem-solving and customer service skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must possess a thorough understanding of the laws governing the operation of motor vehicles and a thorough knowledge of safety rules and hazards.

Pay
Position Hourly Range:
- Specialist I: $21.57 - $28.35
- Specialist II: $24.28 - $31.96
- Specialist III: $26.57 - $34.96
Schedule
Requires working non-traditional hours and shift work. Early application submittal is encouraged.
