Aircraft Worker

Purpose and Scope

Makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker. Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings; bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines, worn cable pulleys, frayed spark plug cables, and burned-out landing lights, using hand tools. Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments. Obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• Three (3) years’ actual and recent related experience in the field consistent with the requirements set forth in the contract/delivery order
• An A&P license shall be considered equivalent to three (3) years’ experience within the aircraft field
• Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location

Position may require

• The ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance
• Travel
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

• Frequent walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and outside weather conditions
• Frequent exposure to risk of electrical shock and vibration
• Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation
• Frequent exposure to noise level in the work environment that is usually loud

Other Responsibilities

• Safety - Develops and maintains a safe work environment. Completes all training requirements and fulfills all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participates in emergency response tasks, and serves on safety committees and teams.
• Quality - Consistently provides services that meet customer expectations. Conforms to the Amentum Quality Policy and carries out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts. Reads and understands Quality Management and Customer Satisfaction responsibilities.
• Procedure Compliance - Reads, understands, and implements the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to his/her job.
