Aircraft Refuel Technician

Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS), a wholly owned subsidiary of System Studies and Simulation (S³), provides aviation services to commercial, Government, and Partner Nation customers. KBFS operates locations in Temple, TX; Crestview, FL; and Geneva, AL, and holds certifications for CFR 14 FAA Part 133 (External Loads), 135 (Non-Scheduled Transport), 137 (Agricultural Spray Operations), 141 (Flight Training), and 145 (Repair Station). In addition to commercial operations, KBFS supports the Department of Defense, other US Federal Agencies, and US-approved Foreign Militaries and security organizations. The S³/KBFS Crestview, FL International ISR Training Academy offers pilot, mission system operator, flying crew chief, and loadmaster qualification training. KBFS Geneva provides Fixed Base Operations support for the Geneva Municipal Airport and received the 2023 FAA Award for Airport Manager of the Year. KBFS Temple provides flight training, aircraft maintenance, avionics support, and commercial aviation operations.

About the role

The Aircraft Refuel Technician will support operations in Geneva, AL. This is not a teleworking position. Military experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide aircraft/helicopter movement operations by towing aircraft from indoor storage hangars to designated ramp parking locations and positioning back into indoor storage hangars during non-flying activities or hazardous weather conditions.
• Conduct fueling operations for fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, both military and civilian, using mobile trucks.
• Execute tank farm operations by inspecting systems, filling mobile fuel trucks, and offloading bulk aviation fuel tanker trucks into bulk storage tanks.
• Perform all duties in accordance with FAA, State, and local governing procedures.
• Execute duties applying principles outlined in Safety Management System policy and applicable operations checklists.
• Assist in preparing fuel trucks and storage facilities for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
• Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
• Perform limited maintenance operational checks and diagnose and troubleshoot refueling systems.
• Use and perform operator maintenance on tools and special tools.
• Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft technical manuals, maintenance information, and action messages, as well as all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.
• Apply a working knowledge of technical publications.
• Make entries in refueling logs and records.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent experience.
• Graduate of a DOD, FAA, or equivalent refueling course.
• Rotary wing and fixed wing refueling experience.
• Demonstrated experience refueling military helicopters including but not limited to AH-64, UH-60, TH-67, CH-47, and all Bell aircraft.
• Able to occasionally lift 50-75 lbs.

Schedule

Ability to work 2 PM–10 PM, or nights and weekends as required.
