Responsibilities

  • Paints aircraft interior, exterior, and piece parts.
  • Prepares for painting by masking, stripping, and washing aircraft sections and components.
  • Blends and mixes paints, inks, and coatings to proper spraying consistency.
  • Performs detail and touch-ups.
  • Sets up and coordinates processes for painting production parts.

Essential Functions

  • Cleans, sands, and paints aircraft components.
  • Removes paint using abrasive blasting equipment.
  • Cleans and degreases parts using specified cleaning solutions.
  • Sands component parts as needed to prepare for painting.
  • Paints component parts using industrial painting tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Routes components to the next stage in the overhaul cycle.
  • Exhibits positive courteous behavior with coworkers.
  • Aids coworkers and those in other departments to successfully perform job tasks and functions when necessary.
  • Fulfills all safety procedures and practices as established by the Company and regulatory bodies.

Physical Demands And Work Environment

  • Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently sits; occasionally stands, walks, and tastes or smells.
  • Lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a standard four (4) year high school or equivalent (GED).
  • 2 years of related work experience directly related to aircraft maintenance or component maintenance.
  • Painting experience in the automotive industry will be considered.
  • A & P Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of databases, aircraft sheet metal repair and component repair, instrument, electronic and electrical test equipment, military or commercial aviation maintenance, and U.S. government regulations for federal contractors and FAA maintenance programs.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment and annual pulmonary function test (PFT) for the use of supplied air respirator.
  • Able to pass a background investigation to obtain a public trust position (if required for the position).
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (if required for the position).
  • Able to work weekends, other shifts, and overtime as required.
  • Essential physical requirements will be reviewed with the applicant during the interview.
  • Some travel will be required.
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data.
