About the role

As a Weekend Nacelles Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need a basic to advanced knowledge of aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures, and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, and cutting on airframe components.
  • Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening, and finish materials.
  • Maintain, clean, and repair shop facilities, equipment, and tooling as required.
  • Safely operate shop equipment such as brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet-metal functions.
  • Use basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly (speak, write, read) in English.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by a supervisor or management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Airframe and Powerplant License is welcome but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing, and dimpling).
  • Journeyman: 0-5 years of experience as a sheet metal technician.
  • Master: 5+ years of experience as a sheet metal technician.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines and time constraints.
  • Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits.
  • Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work a shift.
  • Reliable transportation to get to work each day.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
  • Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
  • Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
  • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
  • Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.
  • Stand for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements

  • Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
  • Work with others in a professional manner.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses.
  • Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader.
  • Multiple departments include Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelle and heavy structural repairs, and light structures repair on components.

Equipment Used

  • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
