Aircraft Mechanical Personnel
This position supports KC-135 aircraft modification operations, requiring CONUS/OCONUS travel for maintenance support across the United States and overseas.
Responsibilities
- Perform Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot-Level maintenance on KC-135 aircraft.
- Schedule and perform unscheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs.
- Troubleshoot aircraft systems and implement corrective actions.
- Remove, replace, repair, and modify aircraft components and assemblies.
- Read and interpret Technical Orders, engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation.
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately and according to established procedures.
- Support aircraft launches, recoveries, and maintenance inspections.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Travel as required to support mission requirements.
- Operate ground support equipment and use specialized equipment, tools, and test equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Technical Orders, and structural repair manuals.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4 - 6 years on-the-job experience performing Organizational, Intermediate, or Depot-Level aircraft maintenance on wide-body aircraft, preferably KC-135.
- Formal aviation avionics training from a technical trade or military technical school preferred.
- A Federal Communication Commission (FCC) License or an Airframe and Powerplant License issued by the FAA with commensurate General or Military Aviation experience desired but not required.
- The ability and equivalent experience to read and comprehend mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS travel.
- Experience operating ground support equipment.
- Knowledge of using specialized equipment, tools, and test equipment in accordance with appropriate USAF Technical Orders and Job Guides preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS travel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Ability to work, day shift, night shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, or adjusted schedules as required.
- Ability to be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access.
Education
Education requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift up to 35 pounds.
- May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
- Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
