About the role

Aircraft Mechanic III (LUH72) performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications, and inspections. Duties also include launching and recovering aircraft, performing operational checks, maintaining aircraft appearance and cleanliness, operating ground support equipment, and completing maintenance actions in records.

Responsibilities

  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications, and inspections.
  • Launches and recovers aircraft as required.
  • Performs operational checks of all aircraft systems.
  • Maintains aircraft appearance and cleanliness.
  • Operates all associated ground support equipment and uses hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft.
  • Completes all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
  • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and completes associated CAMS entries.
  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD Awareness and prevention, and safety at all times.
  • Performs other qualified duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
  • Working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal and structural modification and repair.
  • Ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.
  • Routine lifting and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent climbing or balancing and working in small spaces, ladder work, and working at heights at or above 40 feet.

Qualifications

  • Valid up-to-date A&P license.
  • Five years aviation maintenance experience, five years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned MDS.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Driver’s License.
  • Own Tools/Toolbox.
  • Shadowed and etched tools with PID.
  • Ability to travel as required for LUH missions to various locations.

Pay

$44.45 - $49.22 per hour.
