Aircraft Mechanic III (CBA)

Essential Responsibilities

• Supports highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications, and structural components of complex to extreme difficulty.
• Maintains and repairs aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Determines functionality of complex electrical systems and applies technical expertise to solve problems.
• Completes inspections, including preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and phase inspections.
• Learns to launch and recover aircraft as required.
• Operates all associated ground support equipment and uses hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft.
• Manages ground movement of aircraft.
• Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and completes associated IMDS entries.
• Promotes good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness, and safety at all times.
• Performs other duties related to the occupational field as assigned, including TDY and travel.
• Participates in Cross Utilization Training (CUT) to become proficient in three classifications of aircraft maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED required.
• Working knowledge of aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment.
• Knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and ability to operate portable firefighting equipment.
• Comprehension of schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
• FAA A&P certificate required.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years’ working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations preferred.
