About the role
Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported.
Responsibilities
- Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
- Determines functionality of noncomplex electrical systems.
- Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
- Maintains repairs and modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories.
- Performs final assembly buildup of the total engine by installing accessories or accessory systems.
- Performs troubleshooting on a variety of conventional systems.
- Accurately determines alternative methods and trade technologies to adapt to new or unfamiliar engines or accessory systems.
- Effectively uses diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment and systems, standard and specialized tools, and test equipment.
- Performs micro welding on jet engine tail pipes and heat shielding blankets.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 Years on platform is preferred, and/or 3 years in AMIII career field.
- Authorized to clear Red X primary system.
- Authorized to accomplish in-progress inspections (IPI) primary system.
- Authorized to remove warning/danger tags.
- Authorized to sign condition tags.
- 4 of 4 personnel Full Engine/ground run position qualified, authorized to verify Not Repairable This Station (NRTS), and Authorized tow vehicle operator.
- 4 of 4 personnel certified to perform Micro welding on tail pipe heat shielding blankets.
Qualifications
A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.
Maintains repairs and modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories.
Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
Performs troubleshooting on a variety of conventional systems.
Accurately determines alternative methods and trade technologies to adapt to new or unfamiliar engines or accessory systems.
Effectively uses diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment and systems, standard and specialized tools, and test equipment.
Performs micro welding on jet engine tail pipes and heat shielding blankets.
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components.
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.
- Ability to determine functionality of noncomplex electrical systems.
- Knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc.
- Professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems.
- Interpretation of technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
- Diagnosis using various automated test equipment.
- Adapt emerging technology and use new tools, test devices, and equipment.
- Use of standard and precision measuring instruments.
- Use of pyrometers to check engine combustion.
- Use of test benches that read multiple parameters in oil, vacuum, and torque.
- Examination of electric wiring harnesses, hydraulic and fuel lines, fittings, and other connections.
- Setting up scaffolds, ladders, stands, and other equipment required to prepare the work site.
- Performing troubleshooting on a variety of conventional systems.
- Accurately determining alternative methods and trade technologies to adapt to new or unfamiliar engines or accessory systems.
- Using standard and specialized tools and test equipment.
- Performing micro welding on jet engine tail pipes and heat shielding blankets.
