About the role

The Aircraft Mechanic II (Sheetmetal / Structural Specialty) maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. Duties also involve removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies and components like engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions.
• Safely prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
• Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
• Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
• Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
• Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
• Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
• Required three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
• Required level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty.
• Required thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
• Required basic knowledge of electrical theory.
• Required thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
• Required working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.

Qualifications

• A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.
• All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
• Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.
• The ability to travel if required for TDY MWO missions if applicable.

Benefits

• Bi-weekly accrual of 5.70 hours (0 to less than 60 months)
• Bi-weekly accrual of 7.70 hours (60 months but less than 120 months)

Pay

Hiring Hourly Range: $96,532.80 - $46.41 (Hourly rate set by CBA)
