About the role
The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. They repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, functional components, and inspect engines and components for wear, cracks, corrosion, and other defects.
Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical data to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections.
- Tests engine operation using testing equipment such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and Jetcal tester to locate source of malfunction.
- Replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes.
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories.
- Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.
- Serves as a supervisor, overseeing the jacking and towing of aircraft, entering descriptions of work performed in maintenance records, and verifying work was performed satisfactorily.
- Specializes in work, repair, and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specializes in engine repair.
Requirements
- Valid up-to-date A&P license.
- If no A&P license, three (3) years aviation maintenance experience within the last six (6) years.
- Able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.

- Knowledge of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures.
- Ability to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices.
- Ability to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair or replacement of new parts.
- Knowledge of reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.
