About the role

Amentum is immediately hiring a qualified Line work center Aircraft Mechanic I in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance / flight operations at NAS Oceana Virginia Beach, VA. VFA-106.

Responsibilities

  • Hold the position and will include all duties and responsibilities as a General Aircraft Mechanic 1 with work center 310 (Line) background on the F/A-18 and must maintain currency as a qualified Plane Captain.
  • Must be familiar with the Line work center daily operations and become familiar with company policies and procedures to include Monthly Reports, QA reports and Tally reports.
  • Comply with the customers (Navy's) daily scheduled/unscheduled flight/maintenance operations.
  • Prioritize the needs of the customer in a clear and professional manner.
  • React quickly and precisely to the ever-changing operational requirements of customer.

Requirements

  • Shift work required, detachments are possible.
  • High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum Five (3) years’ actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 aircraft maintenance experience with 3 years prior F/A-18 A-F Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Representative experience.
  • Must Obtain CDI within 30 days of promotion/hire date.
  • Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident).
  • Completed a military Aviation technical "A" School.
  • F/A-18 E/F Plane Captain qualified.
  • Extensive knowledge of W/C 310 daily operational requirements, and OOMA procedures.
  • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding on the use of IETMS, COMNAVAIRFORCES 4790.2 Series and all applicable maintenance/inspection related publications.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to be a self-motivator and work with minimum supervision.
  • Physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
  • Obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system which includes a 7-year background check and obtain a Security Clearance for Public Trust.
  • Obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
