We are immediately hiring a qualified Line work center Aircraft Mechanic I in support of U.S. Navy Aviation maintenance and flight operations at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA (VFA-106).

About the role

This position includes all duties and responsibilities of a General Aircraft Mechanic I with a Line work center (310) background on the F/A-18. You must maintain currency as a qualified Plane Captain and be familiar with daily Line work center operations, company policies, and procedures, including Monthly Reports, QA reports, and Tally reports.

You will comply with the Navy’s daily scheduled and unscheduled flight and maintenance operations, prioritizing customer needs in a professional manner while adapting quickly to changing operational requirements. A U.S. Government background security check and favorable fingerprints in EQIP are required. You may need to complete an SF-85/86 in EQIP to maintain possession of a CAC card. An unfavorable background check may result in termination if deemed ineligible for a CAC card.

Responsibilities

Perform organizational-level F/A-18 aircraft maintenance as a Line work center (310) mechanic.
Maintain Plane Captain qualification and familiarity with Line work center daily operations.
Comply with Navy’s flight and maintenance schedules, prioritizing customer needs.
Adapt quickly to evolving operational requirements.
Complete and maintain required reports (Monthly, QA, Tally).
Use special tools and equipment for assigned maintenance tasks.
Read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Work primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes.
Meet physical requirements and pass any related medical examinations.
Obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (U.S. citizenship required).
Obtain CDI (Collateral Duty Inspector) qualification within 30 days of hire/promotion.
Adhere to Amentum’s safety, quality, and procedure compliance policies.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Minimum five (5) years of recent organizational-level F/A-18 aircraft maintenance experience.
Three (3) years of prior F/A-18 A-F Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Representative experience.
Valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver’s license (if North Carolina resident).
Completion of a military Aviation technical "A" School.
F/A-18 E/F Plane Captain qualified.
Extensive knowledge of W/C 310 daily operational requirements and OOMA procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge of IETMS, COMNAVAIRFORCES 4790.2 Series, and applicable maintenance/inspection publications.
Ability to pass a U.S. Government background security check and obtain a CAC card.
Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (U.S. citizenship required).
Shift work required; detachments are possible.

Preferred Qualifications

Ramp Stamp (restricted/unrestricted).
Experience with A/S32A-45 Tow Tractor, A/M32A-108, or A/M24M-6 power carts.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $38.07 per hour, plus $7.80 per hour (up to 40 hours per week) for Health & Welfare.
